Bromley Episcopal Mission School. Liberia, West Africa.

Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he shall not depart from it. -Proverbs 22:6

Our Mission...

The mission of the Bromley Episcopal Mission School is to provide each student with a diverse education, to meet her academic, spiritual and social needs in a safe, supportive environment that promotes discipline, self-motivation and excellence in learning in order to be serviceable to her community and nation.

Our Future...

As Liberia begins the slow process of rehabilitation after many years of war and political instability, the children are the hope for the future. Bromley, once a premier school in Liberia, was forced to close during the most violent part of the war, during which time the campus was decimated. It reopened in 2003 with rescued orphans from refugee camps and with few resources.

Today, Bromley educates nearly 200 students from the local community. Looking ahead Bromley hopes to shine as the jewel it once was, offering a superior education in an environment of equality for the young women who are the burgeoning leaders of tomorrow.

Our History

The United States shares a rich historical connection with Liberia as freed slaves from Virginia voluntarily repatriated their homeland and established the country. The school was founded by The Rt. Rev. S.D. Ferguson, the first black Episcopal bishop in the US. Missionaries from Virginia and New York were also instrumental in the school's success.
